What is Therapeutic Consulting?

Sometimes families need help navigating urgent or complex decisions for a loved one in need of mental health treatment. We are therapeutic consultants and offer robust support, advice, and guidance to our clients. Utilizing our 40 years of experience in the mental health field, we help our clients access the best care possible by listening to your story and empowering your decision-making process. We work with your family as short or long-term advocates and advisors, helping you to plan for and achieve sustainable recovery for your family member or loved one in need of care.

We endorse integrative, person-centered treatment focused on improving functioning and fulfillment for adults with serious mental illness, substance used disorder, and other co-occurring conditions. If you have a loved one who is striving for independence and stability and needs help managing an illness such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, major depression, major anxiety, autism, co-occurring substance abuse, or other serious emotional and mental difficulties, we can help you find a path forward.

Parents, families, and care givers should not have to shoulder the entire burden of care. Mental illness often coupled with substance use or medication misuse can be long term and even severe. We understand that even the most loving and organized parents need an objective, experienced guide from time to time. Each of our clients receives our full attention and individualized support. Reach out today to discuss how we may be of service to you and your loved one.

Our founder, Virgil Stucker, retired as of October 1, 2022. Todd Weatherly and Maggie Smith, formerly Southeast Therapeutic Consultants, acquired the practice and continue the work supporting families challenged by mental illness or substance use disorder and co-occurring conditions. Virgil continues as a consultant to Todd & Maggie as owners while they continue the legacy of Virgil's distinguished career in the Mental Health Field. The video below is of Virgil talking about Therapeutic Consulting and its importance in serving families.
